What is no8.co.nz all about?

It's about bringing together all us ‘rugby-head’ types who love the game and understand that its arguably more important than life itself. No8.co.nz is New Zealand’s first rugby supporters website. Established in July 2009 we aim to restore the old values and spirit back into our national game. The game they play in Heaven. But now the website is only at the nucleus of our ever expanding atom! Engage….

Why?

Because, being a couple of complete rugby-tragics we miss the old-days. The meeting up before hand, having a couple of ‘social lubricators’ with your crew, wandering to the game as a crowd, and screaming yourself hoarse for your team.

Who’s behind no8.co.nz?

Ultimately it’s the NZ Rugby Foundation, different from the NZ Rugby Union by the fact that the NZRF is New Zealand Rugby’s charity. The NZRF are tasked with assisting and supporting those players who suffer serious spinal injuries playing footy. Be it for the grace of God it could havehappened to any of us. Great. Who specifically is involved?

Well Sir Colin Meads told me never to name drop, he’s right inbehind it. Undefeated All Black Captain Wayne ‘Buck’ Shelford is our patron,Glenn Osbourne and Leigh ‘That Guy’ Hart also think we’re the shizzel and gave up their time to appear on our ads.

Most modern All Blacks and professional players love us, just check out in the video galleries to see who we roll with.

And of course the NZRF board fully endorse it, and that’s pretty much the hardest hitting collection of Rugby Legends you could find. Sir Wilson Whineray, John Graham (DJ), Tane Norton, Andy Leslie (that’s 4 All Black captains so far), John Leslie, David Latta, Colin Gibbons and a few of the NZRU board as well. Impressed?

Who runs the gig?

Day to day a bit-of-nutcase called Jarmo, and NZRF CEO Andrew Flexman call the shots and as Jarmo says ‘make it rain on the rugby universe’. But they are quick to point out its really all about the fans and what the fans want to do. Like last year when they had the idea of appointing ‘Brand Ambassadors’ to spread the love of no8.co.nz – 83 applicants in 8 days!!

Whats in it for me?

Whatever you want really. There’s discounted match tickets, online competitions, off line events, banter sections, blogs, all your rugby highlights from All Blacks level down to the under 5s.

We communicate daily via our Facebook and Twitter accounts. Letting you know what people are talking about, competitions we’re running, things we’re giving away, and awesome new rugby images.

We communicate monthly with our database of over 15000 to alert them to upcoming events, major competitions, news from the NZ Rugby Foundationand of course any messages form our sponsors.

Offline

With RWC 2011 on our doorstep we thought it was about time no8 got off its derrière and got out to the fans. So prior to, during and post RWC no8 will be getting around the nation, having fun events with the fans, and showing our support of all teams in New Zealand.
